What are the pre-requisites?

**ALL STUDENTS MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE AND HAVE EITHER A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA / GED. OR BE ENROLLED AS A HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR IN SECONDARY EDUCATION CENTER/SCHOOL**
A valid proof of identification must also be presented upon enrollment. Applicants must be able to speak, read, and understand English. All applicants will be asked to sign a “waiver of liability” and a “consent form” form upon enrollment. Students will not be allowed to begin class without signing this form.

Attendance/ Conduct Policy for Phlebotomy Technicians and Medical Assistants.

All students are expected to be dressed appropriately, no low cut shirts, short skirts or short shorts. No open toed shoes, sandals or flip flops are allowed to be worn.

Clinical Hours: Students must wear all black scrubs with a lab coat.

Candidate interviews are determined after all complete applications are reviewed and scored. All applicants will be notified by phone or email of their application status after applications are reviewed. Applicants not selected for the class can request that his/her application be held for consideration in the next class.

How long is each course?

The 254 hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares graduates to collect blood specimens from clients for laboratory analysis. Course Description: 90 hours of applied experiences & 44 hours of lab; Clinical hours 120. The course follows guidelines established by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in preparation for the national phlebotomy technician certification exam and employment as a certified phlebotomy technician.

How is the course taught?

The course focuses on state-identified topics of basic anatomy and medical terminology, infection control, and procedures necessary to appropriately collect laboratory specimens and communicate with patients.

These course will prepare the certified phlebotomy technician to work in a clinical laboratory, office environment and healthcare setting.

This course consists of lecture components, directed class discussion, audio-visual aids, overhead transparencies, demonstrations, role-playing, laboratory practice, and clinical evaluation.

Will I get a certficate or be certified?

After completing and passing all courses each student will get a certificate of completion and have an opportunity to become nationally certified.
Each program is designed and includes a “career readiness” component for all students to be successful. Upon graduating, each student is offered linkages to employment opportunities and resources.

Payment is due upon acceptance of the program. We highly encourage you to apply for financial assistance as soon as possible.

Open enrollment for August Class - April 15, 2024 to June 7, 2024 (No applications accepted after this date)

Medical Assistant class Begins August, 2024 - November 8, 2024.

Internship begins November 11, 2024 - December 6, 2024 - (May extend due to Thanksgiving)
